aMuslim, just a muslim

Terms of use

Last updated: 22 October 2026

This is a translation. Where it differs, the German version applies.

What these terms cover

These terms apply to the aMuslim app and everything you publish in it. The provider is IOQ Software, owned by Ihab Oweis (see legal notice). By registering you accept them.

Who can join

You must be at least 16 years old, and each person has one account. You give your correct gender and date of birth when you register. You cannot change them later; if there is a mistake, we correct it at your request.

Brothers and sisters

Your posts reach people of your own gender. Friendships and messages exist only among brothers or among sisters. Groups can be mixed, but profiles and messages stay separate there too. Only verified accounts of scholars, mosques and associations can publish for everyone. Below their posts you see the comments of your own gender.

Verified accounts

An account can apply for verification in the app and submit proof. Our moderation team decides on the application and can withdraw the verification if the details are no longer accurate. Verified accounts carry a check mark next to their name.

What is not allowed

Do not publish anything that breaks the law or harms others. In particular, the following is not allowed:

  • hate speech, insults, threats and harassment, including against people of other faiths
  • sexual or suggestive content and nudity
  • clothing that does not meet the dress rules: women with anything but face and hands uncovered or without a headscarf, men with the area from navel to knee uncovered (girls before puberty may appear without a headscarf)
  • music (nasheeds with voice only are allowed)
  • alcohol, gambling and drugs, including as advertising
  • mockery of Allah, the prophets or Islam
  • depictions of violence, calls for violence and promotion of terrorist organisations
  • advertising and mass messages nobody asked for
  • content you do not hold the rights to, and images of other people without their consent
  • false identities, for example pretending to be another person, mosque or scholar
  • attempts to get around the separation by gender, for example with a second account

Checks before publishing

Before a post, comment or other public content appears (also your name, bio and profile picture, and names, descriptions and pictures of groups, resources and sessions), an automatic filter checks its text and images. It rejects clear violations and tells you which rule was broken. Unclear cases only appear after someone from our moderation team has looked at them. Until then, others see the previous version. Rejected new posts and comments stay visible only to you for 30 days, and you can edit or delete them.

Reports and moderation

You can report posts, comments, messages and people in the app. You can also report illegal content by email to support@amuslim.net. Tell us where the content is and why you think it is illegal. Male moderators review reports about brothers, female moderators reports about sisters. We aim to handle every report within 24 hours and tell you what we decided.

What happens after a violation

If content breaks these terms, we remove it. We tell you which content is affected, which rule it breaks and how you can object.

As a rule, these steps apply:

  • For a first violation, we remove the content and send you that notice.
  • For a further violation, we suspend your account for seven days.
  • If you break the rules again after that, we close the account permanently.
  • For serious violations we close the account immediately and permanently. Serious means threats, calls for violence, promotion of terrorism and sexual content involving minors.

In individual cases the moderation team can depart from these steps, more leniently or more strictly, except for serious violations. It considers how serious the violation is, how often it happened and whether it was intentional, and tells you the reason for departing from the steps.

If content suggests a criminal offence that threatens people's life or safety, we inform the authorities (Article 18 of Regulation (EU) 2022/2065).

Objecting to a decision

If you think a decision is wrong, reply to our notice within six months or write to support@amuslim.net. Someone else from the moderation team then reviews the case again. Your right to go to court is not affected.

Blocking

When you block someone, neither of you sees the other's profile, posts, comments or messages, and neither can follow or write to the other.

Your content

What you publish stays yours. You allow us to store it, to show it to the people you published it for, and to review it if it is reported. This permission ends when you delete the content or your account. If someone shared your post, the shared copy disappears with the original.

Cost

Using aMuslim is free of charge.

Ending your use

You can delete your account at any time (see delete account). If we shut down aMuslim, we will announce it in the app at least 30 days in advance.

Liability

We are liable without limitation for intent and gross negligence and for injury to life, body or health. For slight negligence we are only liable if we breach an obligation without which aMuslim cannot be used, and only for the typical, foreseeable damage. For content published by others, we are liable under the legal rules for platforms, that is, only once we know about illegal content.

Changes to these terms

If we change these terms, the app shows you what changes and asks for your consent before you continue using it.

Applicable law

German law applies. If you live in another EU country, you keep the protection of the mandatory consumer protection rules of your country.
